How Refreshing

For those like Molly, who aren’t really into sweet drinks, here’s a refreshing and unusual summer recipe, blending yogurt, cucumber and mint, then topping off with seltzer for a Persian Carpet. And for something really traditional, a Raspbery Shrub drink recipe that has a berry vinegar base topped off with seltzer or water, courtesy of the Jane Austen Centre for the romantics among us.

Reminds me of the flavored vinegar experiments that took over my New York kitchen a few years ago.  A few springs of herbs left to steep in vinegar finds lots of uses in salads and savories,  but I’d forgotten about the ginger-peach vinegar, sweetened with a little honey and topped off with seltzer, that made a nice alternative to iced tea that summer.
